Ayurveda for Men’s Health

June 1, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Ayurveda and Men's Health Workshop Series, Tuesdays June 1-15, 6:30-8pm EST, with Angelina Fox, ERYT500, YACEP, Ayurveda Health Counselor and Yoga Teacher of Sage & Fettle Ayurveda

Taking a holistic approach to health and life can be a challenge, especially for those tight on time or who haven’t had previous exposure to self-care practices. Ayurveda offers holistic practices that can be simple and easy to incorporate into every day life and help support men’s health.

Ayurveda is the food and lifestyle part of yoga. Using the three doshas, or biological constitutions (vata, pitta, kapha), Ayurveda helps us find our own healthy way of being, dealing with stress, and taking care of ourselves. Some “healthy” foods may be really good for one person and cause discomfort someone else. A one hour seated meditation might suit one person, where another may benefit from 5 minutes of walking meditation. The awesome thing about Ayurveda is that everyone is different, so there is no one-size-fits-all way of doing things, and there is always a way to make things work.

Ayurveda can help us navigate these things and start to help us find our own natural rhythm so we can feel more connected to ourselves and start to live a life where we can enjoy the little things and have the tools in hand when we need to face the big things. This workshop is designed specifically to share Ayurveda for men’s health and to offer practical tools in taking a proactive approach to health and well-being.

Session 1 (June 1) – Overview of Ayurveda, What Are Doshas, and Why it is Useful

The first workshop will offer an overview of what Ayurveda is, why it is relevant to your health, discuss what the three doshas are, and why it is useful to know these things. A general quiz to give an idea of each participant’s constitution will be offered to help lead the discussion with practical application. Some practices will be provided to try in between sessions.

Session 2 (June 8) – Ayurveda Daily Practices to Support Overall Health and Vitality

Building on the first workshop, we will discuss what Ayurveda recommends for the constitutions as a way to support overall health, reduce stress, get better sleep, improve mental clarity, boost performance in physical activity, and find joy in more places. Some practices will be provided to try in between sessions.

Session 3 (June 15) – Ayurveda Food Recommendations and Nutrition, Recipes, and Tips

With a basic understanding of Ayurveda and individual constitutions, the last session will discuss nutrition and offer food recommendations for the doshas including recipes and tips to keep it from all becoming overwhelming.

Dates: Tuesdays, June 1, 8, and 15

Time: 6:30-8pm

Registration Fee: $108 for all three or $45 individually (registration is required by May 28)
